assists in the treatment of dehydration. Dehydration is a loss of fluid
from the body, which occurs, for example, in diarrhoea, particularly watery
diarrhoea, vomiting or following vigorous and prolonged exercise. Uses:
Whatever the cause of diarrhoea, the loss of fluid is potentially dangerous to
the extent of being life threatening especially to babies, small children and
the elderly. Loss of body fluids as a result of vigorous exercise can also
inhibit performance. People who are enthusiastic or competitive sports
participants look for a more scientific and effective formula to be taken before
and after vigorous exercise. E-Lyte is one such product. Active
Ingredients: Balanced blackcurrant flavoured electrolyte solution,
when made according to directions. Directions for Use: Dissolve
2 tablets in 200ml of water (by measure) and take as required or as directed by
a physician. Repeat after each loose bowel motion. If vomiting, sip
small quantities frequently. Warning: Only use water to
dissolve E-Lyte tablets or dilute the resulting solution. Never
dilute with lemonade, soft drinks, fruit juice, cordial or any other fluid.
General:
E-Lyte tablets dissolve quickly and work fast to replace fluid and
electrolytes.
Contains saccharin sodium.
Total osmoladity, when the solution is reconstituted: 240 mOsm/L
This solution should be prepared immediately before use and any unused
solution should be discarded after 1 hour. If refrigerated, it may be
stored for 24 hours. Seek medical advice if diarrhoea persists for more
than 6 hours in infants under 6 months, 12 hours in children 6 months to 3
years, 24 hours in children 3-6 years and 48 hours in children over 6 years and
adults. This preparation contains 276mg of sodium per dose (two tablets),
which should be taken into account by those on a low sodium diet.
